What Are Vault Hunters?
Mechanic wise, vault hunters are the characters you will play as throughout the game. There are 6 playable vault hunters, each with a different main skill and 3 skill trees.
The characters main skill is powerful with a long cooldown, while their skill trees are more focused on upgrading their main skill or gaining passive abilitys and kill activated
abilitys called "Kill Skills". Story wise they are people who seek "Vaults", rumored to hold great power and/or wealth.
Axton, The Commando
Axton is the basic gunner of the vault hunters. His main skill is to place a turret to help him mow down enemies for a short period of time. His skill trees focus on
upgrading and altering his turret, allowing for 2 to be placed, a sheild to surround it or for it to give off a nuclear explosion when recalled or time runs out on it.
His other skills include increasing the max amount and effectiveness of grenades, increasing effectiveness of weapons and buffing his survivalbility during combat.
Maya, The Siren
Maya is the Siren class of this game. Sirens are women marked with tatoos who posses formiddible powers. Maya posseses the power of Phaselock as her main skill, allowing
her to keep an enemy of her choice suspended in the air for a short period of time, allowing for easy headshots or damage. Maya's skill trees revolve around upgrading and altering
the effects of phaselock, like bouncing to another after finishing the locked target, or adding status effects to weaken and kill enemie phaselocked and those around them. Her
other skills, like Axtons(A common theme)revolve around increasing weapon effectivness and survivalbility.
Zero, The Number(Assassin)
Zero is the stealth sniper and melee character. His main skill allows him to go invisible to enemies for a very short time but shooting will reveal your location ending the
skill early. His skill trees focus on increasing headshot/critical and melee damage in and out of his main skill, and giving him kunai and a dash inside his invisible state.
These kunai mark an enemy for death meaning they take more damage and apply a random element to them, either dealing damage or making them take even more damage. He also gets
basic weapon effectivness and survivability upgrades.
Salvador, The Gunzerker
Salvador is a tank. His main skill allows you to dual weild weapons. Nuff' said. His skill trees focus on increasing the length of dual weilding, increasing max ammo and ammo
regen capabilities, and increasing weapon effectiveness and survivability.
Gaige, The Mechromancer
Gaige is like Axton, but her "turret" is a death robot that can actually move around. When Gaige releases her bot onto the feild he will fight alongside her for a short
time. Her skill trees focus on increasing the length her robo fights with her, increasing both their health, and adding attacks like explosions and lasers to her robo. Other
upgrades include the usual, weapon and survivability bonuses.
Krieg, The Psycho
Krieg is the other tank, but in a different way. Kriegs main skill sees him pulling out a buzz axe for a short time, allowing you to throw it or melee swing it, both doing
heavy damage. His skill trees focus on buffing his main skill with both extra length and damage, along with adding extra moves to it also focuses on buffing elemental damage.
All of Kriegs skills mainly focus on these unlike most other characters, so he gets less weapon and survivability buffs. |
